However, the inadequacy of data has been a major impediment to growth and development in developing countries. Lack of capacity for technology development and integration, poor institutional coordination, policy incoherence, and inadequate products and services to support stakeholders and informed decision-making also constitute hindrances to sustainable development. Developing mechanisms and processes to support data collection, processing, innovative solutions development and decision-making is crucial for meeting goals of development agendas. A strategic integration of space technology, big data, and artificial intelligence into the implementation of development agendas stands to bridge the critical gaps in data and analytic capabilities in developing countries. These will provide the invaluable location-based and behavioral data, advanced geostatistical analysis, and predictive modeling techniques that will further enhance the statistical information required for sustainable development.
Our Goals
Our ultimate goal is to establish a one-stop data center through a public-private partnership, for the integration of advanced technologies and analytic techniques for data collection and analysis into the national and regional implementation strategies for development agendas in Africa. We strategically partner with national and sub-national data collection agencies and private sector organizations to continuously and consistently generate and update baseline datasets across critical sectors that are hinged on the dimensions of sustainable development. Our technical and project management expertise gives us the edge to identify, adapt, and develop methodologies for meeting specific sectoral challenges. Together with our local and international collaborators, we focus on building indigenous capacity to innovate, initiate, design, and develop end-to-end interdisciplinary solutions for commercialization and industry uptake, as well as support for evidence-based decision-making by both public and private institutions.
